Ok guys ik this ight be crazy but can I just compare Lucifer and Alastor real quick? Alastor obviously has some mental health issues, always putting on a facade, always smiling. Lucifer? He also has mental health issues. Depression, mainly. He also puts on a facade. The thing is, we see Alastor break. We see his mask crack. He shows us just who he really is, because all he has to lose is his reputation. But Lucifer? We never see him break. Once he puts on a smile, he refuses to take it off. Why don't we see him break? Because he has so much more to lose. His wife, his daughter, his kingdom. If Alastor breaks, he has stuff to fall back on, but if Lucifer breaks? He'll never be the same. People will overtake him, put his daughter in harm's way, and Hell will erupt in chaos. But what I find most interesting of all of this is that Lucifer hates Alastor's mask. He hates how Alastor is always smiling, but why? Maybe because he just hates Alastor, or maybe because he can relate. What does this say for the future of the show? Maybe one of them gets the privillage of seeing the other fall apart. Of seeing their mask break- their smile fall. Maybe that brings them closer. Maybe they can actually get redeemed.
