Nine months into 2025 update.
The spiritual successor to "No Step On Slime" is coming along well so far. I now know for a fact how the protagonist will look, I've got appearances for them. It will still be some time until the story itself is finished, though. There's a good chunk of writing I still need to go through, plus the revisions on top of that.
Bit of a shame I cannot attach images to announcements, but I do give occasional updates on a discord server. I also chat casually about things. Link if you want to hop in.

@Asterias24 It's a spiritual successor, but not a continuation of "No Step On Slime". The underlying tropes and themes will be the same, but it's an entirely original story with original characters and its own plot.

Here is an update on where I am at the moment. As it currently stands, the spiritual successor for "No Step On Slime" is at about 90k words. Lately, I have mostly been laying down the framework for the plot and the setting, so writing should accelerate going into 2025. I am staying with my doctrine of writing all of it, revising it heavily, then publishing it. Not sure when it will be done, but I'm estimating for the story to be anywhere from 200k to 250k words in length.
Now, I did say that it was going to be a spiritual successor to "No Step On Slime". What I am recognizing as I write it, however, is that this next story is growing a discernible identity of its own. Of course, this is a good thing. The sheer amount of research and plot I've put into it makes me excited to eventually share the piece, once it is finished. It'll be a ways off, but it'll be coming.

So what is next? My next story, of course, will be the spiritual successor to "No Step On Slime". I won't reveal too much about it now, but from the way I've worked out the plot, it'll be a spicy one.

@BlazedWaffle it is a spiritual successor, which means that the initial premise will be very similar. However, it will have its own original characters, plot, and setting. In other words, it'd be an isekai that's heavily focused on gunsmithing (and freedom).
@CampbelSoupDestroyer I thought no step on slime was canceled, so is this next story similar to it?
I know that I said I have no plans to return to fanfiction, but I do have one story that has been sitting, unpublished, for over two years now. I will not complete it, but it's an Arknights reverse isekai fanfic. I decided that I might as well pull the trigger and release it for people to enjoy.
