I know what you're thinking: Another aspiring writer. You're right.
Please be welcome. I'm hoping you're sitting right now, you know, so you can get comfortable because this will be quite the emotional trip...
Nah, just kidding.
Let's start with laying down some facts. The first time I sat on a chair and wrote was at age fourteen. That's almost twenty-four years ago! For various reasons, that didn't go anywhere. I was fourteen (not exactly an excuse, I know), but for me it works because I was more dedicated to other things, like drawing.
The next time I found the will to write, I was seventeen years old.
I used to be a teenager with one wild heart back then, believe it or not. But one thing I wasn't: a very prolific writer. In twenty years I wrote the same novel four times, another novel I lost one summer, and a few drafts for other things. Not a lot, I know.
Add to it that I was writing my novels and stories for my own entertainment. I was a hobbyist.
Then at some point I had a conversation with a friend who told me, basically, that I should be trying to publish my stories, that they were engaging and good reads.
Yeah, somehow I believed this friend? Jury's out on that one.
This is how I started with this, in 2017. Because I believed this friend, who told me that my words deserved to be shared and read. That they don't belong only to me anymore.
Hope you agree with that friend, though!
