I like to inject a combination of psychology, mythology into my fiction. My stories explore relationships and feature rich internal conflict. I like read and write characters that think for themselves rather than simply react to external conflict.
Theme is just as important as plot and character but can be the easiest thing to skip. Theme helps me with the cohesion and emotional resonance of my stories. You may even come to recognize in a figurative sense that Plot, Character and Theme are the original love triangle that's common to all your favorite stories.
