Warning: sorry, but this is a long announcement, so be prepared to read...
With Pyro hitting 10k views in January, 1k votes in February, and my second year of being on Wattpad having come and gone, I thought this announcement was long overdue: a potential sequel for Pyro.
I just don't think it's in the cards for now. I'm very busy and haven't had much time to write anything, but I'm also satisfied with the way Pyro ended. It wrapped up the story, Henry's character arc, and all in all, while it's *definitely* rough around the edges and could use some work, I don't think a sequel would contribute to what I wanted to say. There's so many superhero universes and stories out there, and so while I always felt that Pyro wasn't a superhero story—rather, a story *with* superheroes—there's a million stories out there in this genre.
What I believe perhaps made Pyro a bit different, for both you guys as readers and myself as a writer, was I focused on the characters rather than the universe it was set in. I wanted to tell Henry's story, because in a way, it was my own. A sequel would focus on the opposite, which isn't a story I want to tell at this moment.
Sorry this is so long, lol. I just feel like I should properly explain this.
To put it short, at this point in time, there won't be a sequel. I apologize if this is disappointing to you guys, I hate to let people down.
However, I have thought about editing Pyro. I've tabled the story long enough that I can go through and edit it with a fresh pair of eyes. Pyro is 120k words long (dang) and 100% could use some work. If I went through and edited it, some chapters might be edited or cut, interactions cut and replaced, more succinct and dynamic scenes. We'll see, though. I will definitely let you all know if/when Pyro undergoes editing.
Anyway, thank you all so much. The best part about having 10k reads is knowing people enjoyed Pyro. You guys are the best :) <3
Have a wonderful day everyone!
