Vinland Saga is a highly valuable manga that's definitely worth reading. I'm so glad I did, because it taught me about medieval history (I didn't originally like medieval themes, but now I've studied them). It defined the meaning of "warrior," taught me about letting go and forgiveness, and showed me the search for a new land where they sought peace without violence. I especially liked Thorffin's line, "I have no enemies." It really resonated with me.(｡•̀ᴗ-)✧
As for your fic, it's underrated but incredibly good, beyond my expectations. I really appreciate how you used real historical figures in the story, just like author of manga.
I'm curious to know Emma's real age in your fic. Historically, she's six years older than Canute, but I think in your fic the age difference between Emma and Canute is probably adjusted to three or four years. Judging from her experiences in royal politics, war, and two marriages before her third, she's incredibly adept at these things.
P.S. I saw your illustrations on Ig, they're beautiful, especially the one of her, Canute and Svein...who truly resembled Thorfinn, knew that she had an affair with Thorfinn before her marriage. She admitted that her son was indeed Thorfinn's, but chose not to say much. Canute, too, seemed to know this but chose not to hold a grudge and even accepted the son as his own.
