Wattpad had some issues the upcoming month, other were bugs or glitches, but they weren't in my opinion this dangerous like the message I received from them today.
I first thought this might be some joke, but unfortunately when I double checked the email and went to a trusted website, to find if this is true, I couldn't believe it. Wattpad suffered a huge data breach that exposed almost 270 million records, which without knowing first, I am in one of those 270 million people who has suffered that. The data was sold then published on a public hacking forum where it was shared. And has exposed names and usernames, email and IP addresses, genders, birth dates and passwords stored as bcrypt hashes.
This is a disaster, how could Wattpad let them do this? how can we be sure that our private information isn't in some unknown hands? how can we be safe? The only thing that can help is by changing our pass- -words, so please If you are one of these people, change you pass- -words, the steps is easy to follow, so please consider doing it. Also if you can, change your personal information, like your address, birth date and other information that can help them find your other account deside Wattpad, which can be Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit and other.
