Have you ever noticed that in most BL series, BL novels, comics, and fanfics (including mine), there is always a top and a bottom?
There are always two roles played by the characters. One is always cute, while the other is protective and possessive. One is feminine, while the other is masculine.
Is that real?
Yes and NOOOO.
It does exist in real life, but it isn't the standard. If a top is feminine, fans get agitated. (There are many examples, but I don't want to drag some fandoms here.)
Okay, if it is popularizing unwanted stereotypes, then why is it there?
The answer is that the target audience is straight women. So they keep it the way we want.
I was reading my old works. I liked them, you liked them, but I felt this "ick" feeling when I reread some parts of them. So I reread the original 2gether novel by JittiRain.
And yes, the thing I mentioned earlier exists in the original work too.
So I will continue writing it in the old way. Another thing is, if I want my readers to read it, I need to maintain that old style of mine, which I despise now. I will try my best to balance it.
Watching BL or writing BL won't make you a queer ally. You need to understand queer people and their struggles. Even though I'm straight, I also got to experience what can happen if you are part of the community through my friends and parents.
I will write an original story after finishing all the fanfics. Fanfics are for you guys. That story will be for me.
Sorry if my past creations made you feel the same way this present version of me is feeling now.(՞っ╥ ᯅ ╥՞)っ
Also, if you want to know what art is, go read TGCF. It is simply perfect.
Thank you❤️
