Hi! My name is Linda, I'm 29 years old and I live in Sweden. A few facts about me:
- I love urban fantasy
- I'm an existential atheist, meaning I believe we are all ruled by our choices and form our own destinies based on those choices. I reject the notions of a predetermined fate and divine higher powers
- I'm a biomedical scientist
- I love heavy metal, like Bloodbound, Sabaton, FFDP, Raubtier and Disturbed
- I love movies and music from the 80's
- I dislike happy endings
Fun facts about Sweden:
- Sweden is the land of the Midnight Sun! Every year, Swedes celebrate Midsummer in the 23rd of June. On this day, in many parts of Sweden, the sun never sets
- Mr, Sir, Mrs, Ms or Miss? In Sweden, you are most likely neither, since we don't use titles like that. Here, we call everyone by their first name
- When the rich, Swedish socialite heads out to party, they sometimes order in two bottles of champagne. They drink one and pour the other out. Why? Because they can. They call it "vaskning". The rest of us call it dumb as hell
- Sweden has the second highest tax rate in the world. In return, we have free school lunches every day, free health care our entire lives, our dental care is free up until we're twenty years old, we get six weeks of paid vacation every year and all higher education at colleges and/or universities is free of charge
- Sweden has a higher percentage of English speakers than Canada - and we're only 8% behind the US. We start learning English at the age of 8 and if we don't pass English, we're not allowed to graduate high school. Swedes also do not dub films, video games or TV-shows. We tend to use subtitles.
- The Sami are the native people of Sweden. Much like other native people, they have their own culture, including customs and holidays. They have a special kind of music called "jojk", which is literally music without lyrics. Jojk is for the feelings that words cannot express.
