Self-published author of YA books that have a lot of music, art, and swearing in them. I enjoy writing in first person and I end up spending a lot of "writing time" blogging or looking up songs for playlists that have to do with my projects. Self-pub takes a lot of time, but I'm dedicated to putting out my best work and hoping that others are inspired, pissed off, and in love with it by the time they finish reading. 
Everyone should write what they love. Who cares if no one else likes it. As long as it's a story you want to share, that's all that matters.
