I just finished reading an ARC by J.M. Frey. My review is as follows:
"JM Frey is masterful in this story. She starts off with the usual trope of a woman from our world flung into a fantasy world where magic works. There are subtle notes of brilliance but overall, it’s a story we’ve seen before, it bits and pieces of most fantasy novels. Just as you reach the point of thinking “Oh boy, is there nothing new in the universe?” she turns everything on its head. It’s brilliant, and laugh out loud. Seriously, I startled my cat.
As I gleefully read the next few chapters, now in love with this new story, she did it again. And again. And once more just to be sure I was lost and enthralled in this, her anything-but-trope story.
It has everything I’ve missed in fantasy; humour, surprises, twists, monsters, magic, villains… And somehow, they’re never what you expect."

I'm running a terribly non-scientific experiment with KDP and their exclusivity contract. My first novel has been published on Amazon Kindle, exclusively for 90 days (except for the paperback through their subsidiary Createspace).
The Kindle is $2.99 and the book is $8.99 in the US, $19.79 in Canada, which may be worth either contacting me directly or buying from the US site. (I didn't set the price, Amazon did)
My story is a harsh, gritty slice of life in a terrible neighbourhood, at the worst part of adolescence. Three teenagers, three loyalties, three disastrous choices. (contains strong language and sexual situations )
The experiment is that they promise to promote my book in exchange for exclusivity. I want to see how my marketing stacks up against theirs. So if you go look at the book, and buy it, drop me a note saying that you saw it here.
