I just... really need to stop reading fanfictions where someone dies.. mah haerrt

In so many fanfics I've read recently, Michael has been 'saying' he's fat or his weight has been mentioned somewhere along those lines and I don't understand it. I suppose if you're just writing it for the story or whatever but why then is it just Michael? He isn't fat or overweight in any way, shape or form. There's nothing there! Idk i just don't understand it. Enlighten me anyone?? X
