Well at least the 7th Gen fighter program of the OFN, an atmospheric fighter is a great start for space warfare for now.
oh but they do plan on creating space battleships, not for interstellar travel just yet but for planetary or orbital defense?
when would the United Federation or the OFN be able to possibly build military class starships/spaceships like space battleships something like that and also create jump drives or warp drives for interstellar travel?

@Gohan_Grey either during the epilogue or during the final arc of the story I can't give much of a response now since that would spoilers. But overall the story won't be touching interstellar travel (FTL methods)
