It's December!!
I did not meet my WaNoWriCha goal of 10k for DARKNESS FALLS but I certainly feel like I did 10k's worth of planning, worldbuilding, and graphics. And I'm so in love with the map I made for my fictional town <3 Plus , you know, 2 chapter's worth of actual writing ;-)
Big thanks to @sallymason1 for creating the push I needed to achieve all that I did and to @philouwrites for inviting me to the experience, ready to cheer me on! You rock- congrats on your achievement, as well!
I'm gearing up for family time and reading, and I'm super excited to get through my 'current reads' (and then some hopefully!)
Also, I can't help but mention my youngest is 6 months old today XD

@philouwrites Aww, thanks <3 You have been a huge part of me getting anything on paper for 2024. I didn’t think I'd get anything done after the ONC but doing those short stories was a perfect detour from working on more cumbersome projects. And I'm in the exact same position with DFalls. I think I was posting a chapter every six months?? Lol

@SeraDrake I had always wanted to do NaNoWriMo for so long until I finally accepted that it is literally the worst time of year for me (-: I'm looking forward to trying my hand at the ONC again. 2024 was my first year and though I didn’t complete my story, I learned a lot! But for now, I'm excited to indulge in some downtime and appreciate all the babbling stories I can get!

Anyone else get an invite for a Wattpad survey? I'm very interested in some of the potential upcoming changes. It sounds to me like there has definitely been a decline in posting since most of the questions pertained to what motivates us as writers to post and how to get us posting more (-:

@QuinceArchFortes - I have to wonder if Wattpad Creators are instructed/ordered to write about what is most popular: romance tropes, certain plots and characters, etc. Doesn't sound very creative.

@SeraDrake I can't imagine we are that much of a minority. I took a screenshot recently of one of the curated lists, and I find it hilarious. They are all the exact same 'sold/ mated/ etc to the alpha ceo billionaire werewolf mafia boss' and I couldn’t care less. The weirdest part to me is that they all have different authors, but I swear, it looks like they all have the same cover. I don't know, maybe they are made by the same artist/ team?

@QuinceArchFortes - If they want us to post more often, maybe they could stop obsessively hyping those stupid "verticals" and pushing us to write the same. There's nothing like artistic freedom to encourage creativity. Also, as a reader, I like variety. I'm not interested in being told I ought to try the gazillionth billionaire/werewolf/mafia/faerie romance that everyone else is talking about. BORING. Give me something unique, preferably something with chapters that are longer than 500 words and don't end on a duh-duh-DUHHH curbhanger hook.

New computer is here much earlier than I expected and so far I'm... unsure. I like everything about it except that the keyboard backlighting is not dimmable, like I thought. It seems like a silly think to get hung up on, but it is a huge factor in my comfort and IF I'm going to spend a large amount on this product, I need it to have certain features.
Last night I ordered a keyboard dust cover. It is matte clear between the keys, so fingers crossed it gets the lighting dispersed enough for my sensitive eyes! I would really love to not have to return this computer :'-)
