I saw a really great post that I want to share:

In 2026, do not ask yourself if your art is good - instead ask:

          	- Is it sincere?
          	- Was it cathartic?
          	- Was it fun to make?
          	- Is it made by me?

And I would like to add: Did I learn from it?

I think these are great questions to be asking ourselves as modern creators. ♡

Hi Quince

You’ve read some of my earlier books and I was wondering if you’d be interested in my new one.

I was inactive on wattpad for a bit. But I’m now writing: Me after You.

It is a dual timeline book where Ananya is a lawyer and she is attending a symposium in Delhi when she sees her ex at a traffic light.

Her ex was her next door neighbor, her first love, her first kiss, her everything… until one day he disappeared without a trace.

          Until now.

          Do check it out!

          - Naina

@lostlovefairy That's still very admirable! Let me know if you dip your toes in the paranormal genre again~

@quincearchfortes lol! Thank you. I’m not a writing machine. I take about a year for each book:)

Unpopular opinion: I'm ready to compete against AI.

I've come to the conclusion that if I'm beaten by AI in competitive writing, then that speaks more about my own writing and skill level than it does about any other factor.

I joined Wattpad to grow as a writer, and I have. I'm thankful for that. I'm also glad that the Ambassadors are realistic in their abilities to monitor their competitive writing events versus making false promises to ban AI entirely. They are not well enough equipped to make a definitive call that would disqualify entries from a contest with pretend prizes. Stickers and accolades are great and all (yes, I want them) but we aren't even talking about money.

Not only that, if the big publishing houses are getting scammed, how is a team of *volunteers* with varying amounts of judging experience expected to stand a chance? If AI writing is humanized enough to come back with a 0% on popular AI detecting sites, that means we have hit a point where we are all competing with AI on here and in the real world, whether we like it or not.

From day one, my journey has been about growth. It's not about worrying about what everyone else is doing - which seems to be worrying about what the Ambs are doing. On a personal level, I'm really tired of hearing how I somehow have an unfair advantage, or that my achievements aren't earned. Just because some long-timers have learned the formula of what works and do well with a deadline, doesn't mean that the Ambassadors, as a collective, have secret knowledge. The judging rubric is basically on all the contest pages. They are very upfront about what will score well. Fighting that does not diminish your writing - it only means you didn't follow the assignment.

So, back to AI. My husband's work is actually demanding the whole company use it for their e-mails. That's the time we live in, and no matter how far into the woods I go, it'll find me there too.

May the bridges I burn light my way as I forge my own path!

@katiegoesmew I feel that way competing against other writers too. You never know who is going to be judging and what they may or may not like. Sure, some contests hold more weight, but it's still all immaterial.

That being said, it amazes me how popular Text-to-Speech is. I personally do not like it, but I actually listen to high-quality audiobooks. Times change, and tastes change, and they will continue to do so. I wonder what's next?

Oh wait, I have a prediction - it will be turning books into AI vertical movies to watch from your phone (-':

@QuinceArchFortes I will say, don't sell yourself short. If AI beats your work, that doesn't mean there's something wrong with your writing. People are getting used to reading AI, and there's a rising number of readers who *prefer* AI to human-written content. Failing to meet their expectations by writing something with personality and ingenuity is not a bad thing. The people choosing AI over you are the ones losing out.

@katiegoesmew Exactly! The time to adapt is now.

My husband was fighting the changes at first, but they are literally laying off people who are non-compliant, so now he nods and smiles. Big Corperation is a huge fan of AI, apparently.

The war isn't lost, but it *is* worth picking your battles, that's for sure.

In the meantime, I'm still avoiding blatantly obvious AI in the indie contest scene, but I'm otherwise supportive of being competitive, especially if it motivates me to write something new. The reality is that I need to shift my focus back to literally magazines. There's no community behind it, but maybe that's for the best??

*gives a comically big stretch*

          I'm baaaack~

I had myself a mini break where I did not actually take much of a break, aside from prioritizing some very traumatic video game time - IYKYK - and splurging at the Ren Faire.

I'm still in the Flabbergasting Smackdown so far, *fingers crossed* but I haven't been writing aside from that. Both of my side projects are on hold again until my schedule accommodates (possibly September??)

Amazingly, I actually placed with 3 of my Versification poems. They may not be my personal faves, but it is very rewarding to see my name alongside actual poets <3

Next up is editing 'The Bedell Bride' since the wordcount for short stories has been lowered for the Ambys. I'm super excited to enter both that and 'Haggard' now that last year's Shortlisters are eligible.

And for some reason I redid the cover for 'Passenger.'

So, that's the news down in Quince-town ~

@QuinceArchFortes Congratulations and good luck!
