A little update on The Deathless and the Spare…
This is proving to be a difficult story to write—not because I don’t know where it is going, but because it is so emotionally brutal. The going has gotten tough. Some of the scenes are genuinely traumatic, and there are moments when I wonder whether I want to put myself and all of you through them.
I also hope you have liked what I tried to do with Insidious. I know it deals with an incredibly heavy subject, but it was a story I felt needed to be told with honesty and compassion. Thank you to everyone who stayed with it, particularly through its darkest moments.
It is also going to be an exceptionally full month. I have an important anniversary coming up, followed by a week-long course in another country. I return just in time for my appraisal, and today, I begin an on-call shift at 5 p.m. that will last the entire weekend. Schools have reopened too, bringing the inevitable teenage drama with them.
This month is definitely not for the faint-hearted!
But the story is taking shape. I am fleshing out the chapters now, and you can expect the first chapter of The Deathless and the Spare on Friday the 26th of September.
The story of Gunnar, and the woman yet to be named are coming and I have a feeling they are going to break all our hearts.
