I write poetry with surprise endings, all based upon famous short stories. The poems are all highly structured with specific rhythmical & rhyming patterns. I think you will find them fun to read. They will keep you guessing right til the final stanza.
The remainder of my poems, though not derivatives and not having surprise endings, are nonetheless narrative in nature, and they all are written in stanzas with specific rhythmical and rhyming patterns. This style of poetry is far more traditional than modern-day free verse, and it is what I prefer. It is basically the style of poetry that we were exposed to in our youth - poems that are musical in quality (specific rhythm and rhyme); poems that are purposeful in their approach to poetic elements such as similes, alliteration, repetition, etc.; poems that are narratives.
