Sierra Blanco was an Official Selection of the 2025 Lanford Wilson New American Plays Festival 2025. She received the 2024 Kennedy Center's Ken Ludwig Award in recognition of an emerging artist's body of work; and received the National Kennedy Center KCACTF Playwriting Residency at Wildwind Performance Lab Texas, 2024. Sierra was a winner of the 2020 National Endowment for the Arts / American Theatre Wing's Musical Songwriting Challenge; The Stephen Sondheim National Young Playwrights Competition; Writopia's Worldwide Plays Competition; the NYC Write A Play! Competition; and the 2022 O'Neill Young Playwrights Festival. Her work has been published in the New York Times, A Decade of Shared Stories Anthology, and her play The Smallest Heroes is licensed/published by YouthPlays. She has received staged productions at The O'Neill Barn; Actors Temple; Theater Lab NYC; Harold Clurman Theater, staged readings Cherry Lane Theater, Hunter College, Bryant Park; independently staged musical readings NYC; and zoom play productions. New Musicals Inc produced The Cootie Conspiracy (15 minute musical) July 2022 Los Angeles at Broadwater Mainstage (book Sierra Blanco, lyrics Sara Horton, music Xander Ambrose). Sierra also volunteers as a Composer/Vocalist with Hear Your Song, a non-profit helping critically-ill children to express themselves through music.
