Damian grabbed his sword, its thin, dark blade sparkling in the light as he slid it into the sheath on his back. With a whistle, his familiar, a silver snake, slithered up his legs and wrapped around his neck. Damian frantically rushed around his room, grabbing his knives, strapping them onto his arm, and sliding his bo staff into its holster in his belt. "Anything else you need to grab?" Thantos said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. With a grin, Damian shook his head and headed for the door, grabbing his leather trench coat and throwing it on as he strode down the hallway. "Lead the way, dear brother" Damian said, slowing down to let Thantos pass. With a grin, Thantos shifted into his bird form and flew to the end of the hallway before transforming back. "You're too slow, little brother" he laughed before transforming once again and taking flight. With a frustrated sigh, Damian flashed to the end of the hallway in an instant, which soon began a cat and mouse chase between the two brothers down the halls of the castle to their father's study. "You better go in alone, Damian. Be careful" warned Thantos as he transformed back into his normal self. With a whistle, a pale horse rose from the ground and Thantos hopped on. "I'll see you afterwards. Try not to die. It's such a pain to reap those who you care for." With one last grin, Thantos urged his horse forward, and both horse and rider faded into the air. With a roll of his eyes, Damian turned towards the door of his study and knocked, unaware of what lay before him.
