@preciouswange Hey you're in luck because I've just started working on it again! Sorry for my incredibly long hiatus, it's been a complication of crazy life stuff happening, no idea where the story is going, and finding out that someone already wrote a story with this exact same premise back in the eighties. But now I know roughly where the story is going and am integrating the existence of the earlier book into the plot (though I still need to get my hands on a copy to find out what happens so that I don't rip it off completely, or if I do at least acknowledge it). So yeah, expect an update in the near future! And hopefully I can keep on top of them from now on, though no guarantees...
