My 100 word story:
Things are about to change!
I approach Mum with awe. She doesn't look; she keeps her head down with guilt. My eyes turn on her forlorn face with pity. Her eyes, hooded heavily with despair, drain the last hint of hope from me. Though I struggle to smile, I attempt a ‘happy face.’ Her head turns, offering full view of her lifeless face. Profound scars mark her heavy eye bags. She hasn't looked at me for ages. Our gaze speaks more than words. It kills us knowing how far apart we've been. Within seconds, I have Mum in my arms. Things are about to change!
