I hate when I hear people saying “girls help girls” as a way to explain things. Like- if someone’s going through a breakup and another person asks a girl why she’s helping her through it and she says “cause girls help girls”??? Like- no. It’s not “girls help girls”. It’s “girls protect girls”. Cause I’m this way and I know a lot of other girls are too. If I see a girl I don’t know or don’t like carrying her groceries in by herself or something, I’m not gonna rush over to help her. As bad as that sounds. Most girls wouldn’t do that for each other because it would feel awkward or because we don’t like the other girl. If we did then that would be “girls help girls”. But it’s “girls protect girls” because it doesn’t matter if I don’t know her, if I hate her guts, if she’s my best friend, if she’s older/younger than me by a noticeably large gap.. none of that matters. Cause I wouldn’t leave her alone in a room with a creepy guy, I’m gonna let her know if she has a period stain on her pants, if she’s getting picked on I’ll step in, if she’s drunk and might make bad decisions I’ll take her home to make sure she doesn’t, if she’s being followed or bothered by someone I’ll step in and pretend like we’re best friends or like she’s my neighbor or something. I won’t help her with homework or carrying groceries but if I feel she might be in danger I’ll help her. Immediately. Even if she’s not in danger, I’ll step in and make sure she’s safe before I walk away if I feel she might be in need of help in a situation like that. It’s “girls protect girls” not “girls help girls”. Yes, we help each other when we’re friends or family. But no girl you know is gonna help a girl she hates with her fucking math homework. She’ll protect her from the creepy guy hitting on her while she’s walking home. There’s a difference
