It's an insult, man, but Ayanokoji's story in Re:Zero really makes him very different from his original personality, and the main dialogues between the characters feel short.

Well...if you asked for my thoughts about how Ayanokoji owns benefits turn into help the Emilia in arc 1 then here is the rough thinking I had
:- As Ayanokoji teleported into rezero world he do not reckless from the starting he is knows the do the reckless things without thinking can lead him to death, he had no knowledge about this world , power scale , conditions. As Ayanokoji a logical, for hum being isekai or magic only a fantasies/fairly tales unless he itself encounter this. So from the he didn't try to keep himself between someone 's problem/weak until He get rough idea of this world dangerous / powerscale/ traditional rules. So even after being saved Emilia from thugs he don't help just showing gratitude and exchanging name and small conversation with puck and satella he leave to collect the information as well as money. In the late evening Ayanokoji collect the information like about world map , where he is , magic , rules , royal elections, currency system. He is also earned money through acting as middleman in the exchange he got money and information. He had enough money which most of them he used on food and decided to stay in cheap place (go same area where emila go for searching good and cheap but in the end disappointed) so when kiyo decided to leave the place heavy pressure and coldness freeze him afterall he is human without magic when koji the danger he decided to leave but heavy supernatural blizzard appeared which leaving plan more difficult for him. His surrounding turn into ice ,near people freeze and those have some breathe left are hopeless there life already miserable in this place.

I kinda see the vision, but I'll probably take a different route where everything that happens in Arc 1 is calculated by Kiyotaka. Like he didn't help her to risk his own life, but because he knew he wouldn't die a second time. He helped her because of the already established reason, and as a candidate, he believes he can secure some power and influence through her. How's that sound?
Kiyo understood already this is not natural bizzard and also too much he experienced in previous world. Before Ayanokoji loose his senses he saw gigantic mouse who was staring at him. Spark hit the Ayanokoji which realized him it is all done by puck through his small conversation with puch where he was saying he is spirit and also he had gigantic terrifying form in which he can destroy the world after Ayanokoji was saying him cute.
In next attempt (skip monologue), he decided stay from this place he already understood this world had lot of many individuals possessed power to killed due to lack of magic and body enchantment. He left the capital before the mess , earn money through solve the problems of merchants , gambling etc.he also buying swords and some books about mabest and magic (not knowing his channel gates are ruined) He spent 3 days without a problem in small cities until his smell attract the witch, he managed to 2 cultiest by sword but excess use of magic through every direction leads him to die not once but twice which one conclusion:- something is wrong about him which attracts the witch cult (not know who they are) and without experience one he get to know why he didn't perform magic. Through the newspaper Ayanokoji knows white haired girl is royal candidate. She he decided to help her to get strong base for him to get strong. Also decided to manipulate the strong ones coz he knows he didn't become strongest in one day.
So from start of arc 2 , Ayanokoji will be manipulative. Gain the affection, trust , admiration which somehow make him comfortable in the end of arc 2.
