          1) they can’t be accused of queer baiting 
          2) they will be praised for pulling off the best slow-burn

@ImAFangirlAndImProud well, it actually still would be considered queerbaiting. when you promise a queer relationship and then deliver only to immediately break apart the relationship through death/injury/interdimensional travel, it's still queerbaiting because it's promising representation that was never truly given. it would be a slightly more palatable and satisfying from a plot standpoint form of it, but would not be a magic "get out of queerbaiting free" card
