So, my $60,000 bachelor's degree, in Healthcare Administration, has me working in retail rn. Mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, it's fantastic for me.
Omfg! I have 3 fave Latino families at my job & 1 of them I haven't seen since the election. They were there Sunday though & I about broke down. I already had a message written, in Google Translate, for if they ever Did come in.
Here I am, with a line of people & I hear this very faint "hello" from the other side. The mom is standing there, smiling at me, & she fn spoke English to me. She called for me. She smiled at me. She spoke English to me. hklrimdhflhgxih
I immediately handed over my phone so I could keep working. The message was simple. "I've missed you. I've been worried about you. I'm so glad you are here."
As soon as I got the chance, I was actually able to figure out why I hadn't seen her in so long. She's been working an extra job now that her son is in school & she has more time. Their family is doing well rn. I didn't ask their status; I never do. I'm just happy that my people, for now, are safe. After what happened to that woman from Puerto Rico, I'm more scared than ever but seeing her was a big relief
