Hello, there.
I'm a self-taught writer (it definitely shows sometimes) who grew up reading a good few less-than-well-written books. As such, with my limited experience and a determination fueled by spite and autistic hyperfixation, I have taken it upon myself to "fix" some of these books. I started with Michael Vey, written by Richard Paul Evans in honor of his son named Michael after he and Richard himself were diagnosed with Tourrete's Syndrome. The books simultaneously forget about Tourrete's and are ableist towards the autistic-coded best friend character, Ostin Liss. Not to mention the utter lack of queer representation. I won't spoil what I've got going, but you'll find in the ongoing fanfic that I am attempting to rectify these issues, though I'll definitely appreciate any input you guys have, as I am covering demographics and experiences that are outside of my comfort zone.
Beyond that, I do have plans to fix other books I have issues with, notably Twilight by Stephanie Meyer or Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Is it a coincidence that the authors of all the books I have issues with are practicing Mormons? Maybe. Either way, these projects are fun for me and are a way to cathartically undo my dissatisfaction with these book series. I hope you'll like them as they come out!
