She had the urge again.
As she stared down the open road in front of her, all she could think about was speeding down it and disappearing into the horizon.
From here it seemed so much friendlier than where she sat.
She should do it, she told herself. She should get up, walk until she died of fatigue, drive until she didn't recognize he surroundings, and then keep on driving.
She should take off. Make a new life for herself. Find something new.
She could do it. She could make it on her own. She was strong, they told her.
A shaky breath passed through her chapped lips and a shudder ran over her body.
Her mind was already far away, surveying what could be there.
She could do it, she told herself again.
Usually the urges went away.
This time they didn't
She took off
She left all she had ever known behind
And she found herself
