When I was barely a year old my father went to prison for attempted murder.
At 16, I found out not only had he did it purposefully but was hired to do so. I previously was under the thought that he accidentally shot a woman in a parking lot.
At 17, I met the woman he shot through a meditation set up by the San Francisco Sheriff's Department.
At 21, she and I went on Oprah and I didn't talk to my father again for over a decade. At 32, I began to write him again.
At 33, I found out he may be getting out of prison in less than two years even though he is serving three life sentences.
This is my story. Then, now, and everything in between.
