Desi at heart, I grew up watching melodramatic serials with my maa, secretly rooting for the villain because they had better dialogue. I live for the small-town romances, the silent stares over chai, the saree-draped heroines who bite back with sass, and the brooding, emotionally constipated men who eventually fall headfirst in love.
