I think you have a good idea with your story but if I had to give you an advice it would be to not rush things and do write about how she feels, what she thinks, not just her actions. What makes a story in the first person more enjoyable is that you're directly connected to the character's thoughts. If it was in third person then you'd mostly be having facts and "this is this that that". 
          But then again, I don't think I'm suited to give anyone advice on writing..
          And you should want to be a writer just like yourself, with your own style. We all write differently, that's the beauty of it. :P
