Monami’s POV
A strange warmth spread through my body, pulling me from the remnants of my dream. Blinking a few times, my vision adjusted to the dim morning light, and that’s when my breath hitched.
Karan.
He was beside me.
Sleeping peacefully.
His one arm was wrapped around my bare waist, a result of last night when Bharkha Bhabhi had insisted I wear a saree. The loose drape of my pallu had shifted sometime during the night, leaving my skin exposed to the slight chill of the room. But instead of shivering, I felt a different kind of warmth.
My head rested on his bicep, my fingers absentmindedly splayed over his toned stomach. Our faces were dangerously close—too close. Just an inch more, and my lips would brush against his. His warm breath fanned my face, sending a strange sensation through my body. A slow, unfamiliar knot coiled within me, making me acutely aware of every point of contact between us.

I needed to move.
"Karan," I murmured, barely above a whisper.
His name felt foreign yet familiar on my lips. Like a lullaby I didn’t know I could sing. A name so simple, yet why did it feel like poetry in the morning stillness?
But Karan didn’t wake up. Instead, he did something completely unexpected.
He nuzzled into my neck.
A gasp almost escaped me as his strong arms pulled me deeper into his embrace, his nose grazing the delicate curve of my neck. A shiver ran down my spine, and my treacherous heart—oh, my poor heart—threatened to leap out of my chest.
"Arey no, Monu, you can't afford to lose your control with your stranger husband," I reminded myself, mentally slapping my overdramatic nerves.
