@ellie_turns4u The first section of insecurity is strong, but wavers towards overly technical or guarded places. The poems about growing up was kind of a wrestling with reality rather than idealism, but it fell short of the mark for me. The poems about love were mostly about longing or angst and were fine. "Instalove" was a stand out thematically, but sill lacked a connection. The final part had my favorite poems of the set. Many were more focused in terms of messaging and tended to be less bogged down by a technical approach.
I think in general the work shows strong insight that can develop into compelling poetry, but the voice is a little too safe. Personally I'd like to see the work get into the drama of an event or situation more than the fretting that comes after or from a lack.
Big picture: a promising collection. After over 40 poems I saw more growth than stagnation and I always consider that a great sign. I hope you keep writing. Best of luck.
