Canadian, but have spent the last ten years living in Mongolia, India, Egypt, Azerbaijan, and now Indonesia. Writing novels set in these countries, if only for posterity's sake, has always been on my list of things to accomplish. But without any formal writing training, I stuck mainly to blog posts and travelogues as a way of recording life abroad.

One day, on a bus in Baku, Azerbaijan, I decided to stare down the daunting task of creating a story that would take place in Mongolia. Using my mobile phone, I wrote two or three paragraphs a day on the way to work. If I did that for enough time, I reasoned, I would eventually have a full-length novel.

Two years and ninety thousand words later, I have what I hope is an interesting novel in the mystery/thriller genre. What I hope to find out through Wattpad is if I have what it takes to write formally for public consumption, or if I should just stick to writing with posterity in mind.
