out of curiosity: if any of you write multilingual ocs/fics, how do you cross the language barrier in a way that makes it easier for your audience to understand everything that's going on, even if they aren't fluent in/don't speak one of the languages?

situayuriship

@hothskies / i don't usually write multilingual ocs but i've thought about it, & i always liked putting the translation in italics as if the character they're speaking to/the character that is speaking, is mentally translating themselves

@hothskies i personally put translations in the inline comments and at the end of the chapter

btw if i see an ai cover on a fic, i immediately assume the author didn't write the story, either. if the cover is slop, the fic's contents probably are too :))

hothskies

@MiniFranzipan SELLING ai products is honestly insane because it's largely trained on copyrighted material. i hope that, when the ai bubble bursts, the people whose works were stolen and profited off of by ai scammers get to sue the hell out of them

@hothskies Thankfully when I was in uni and writing essays regularly, ChatGPT was less of a thing, so I didn't have to worry much about phrasing when I was writing (never used it for essays obvs because I'm smart enough without it). But it's insane the way it's exploded over the last 1-2 years especially, but mostly over this last year. Seeing ai generated text is such a common thing and it's so depressing to think that people can't just be creative and formulate their own thoughts -- it HAS to be typed as a prompt into Chat GPT. Totally ridiculous. I've seen ai generated stories being SOLD on Facebook, too. Fake ai accounts pretending to be a real author or real reviewers of the book. The world is losing imagination and creativity.

@MiniFranzipan yes !! whenever i write essays for my college courses i get so anxious about including that phrase even once because it's practically synonymous with ai usage

yellowjackets fans... is it worth the watch? i've heard mixed reviews about the most recent season but i am desperately into ella purnell so !!!!

MiniFranzipan

@hothskies It is DEFINITELY worth the watch. I think it's always gonna be a thing that not everyone is gonna likes everything about the show, whether it's the direction it goes or the writing or something else entirely. I'd definitely recommend watching it, even if initially JUST for Ella Purnell, and you might find other things you like about it.
