Where to begin ... I have always loved to write. I never really got a great deal of encouragement so I stopped for a really long time. One of my life goals was always to publish a book whether for sale or just personal satisfaction of seeing on the shelf with my name on the cover, and so I finally made the decision to do it on Boxing Day 2005. I sat there planning out my one-off novel and within a couple of hours it became a 13 part series.
I took about a year to get that first story written. It fills two notebooks as I couldn't connect with my story properly when I tried to use the computer. To this day it is still only 50% typed up which is rather disappointing. I also made a start on four others in the series, but that's where they all still lie.
Since then there have been several stories and even more since a friend introduced me to Nanowrimo back in 2012. Now I have a multitude of unfinished projects and a million more ideas that continue to pursue me relentlessly.
I ask myself why it is I can't seem to commit finishing any of them and I have concluded that I am afraid. Once they are done, then I will have no more excuses not to share them and I am not sure I am prepared to have people not love my babies the way that I do. But at the same time I have to ask myself, am I prepared to live with the regret of not following through, of not taking a chance, of not believing in myself.
I was a lot braver ten years ago, but I don't think I had the passion, the desire and the scope of ideas that I do now. Wattpad is the next stepping stone in my journey, I just need the faith and courage to see where it leads me.
