Hey everyone, I know I missed a whole week of publishing....I’m sorry! It’s been an intense week following the terrorist attacks on Christchurch and being on the other side of the world from home and family. There was a vigil in Trafalgar Square on Thursday evening, and it felt a little less lonely to be around friends and strangers alike who understood and felt the same. This week coming I am back into a better zone however! I’ve also had to pause to do a bit of rewriting and a lot of editing to get these very last four chapters in Loretta’s story just how I wanted them. Because of this, I will publish Monday evening, and then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday as usual, with Friday being the final chapter in this book.....stay tuned!

Loretta felt fear as raw as she felt death, as close as she felt his sweet breath against her skin. But she had lost her father, she had lost her family, she had even lost the world she had been born into. And the heartbroken voice deep in her chest groaned of how she had also lost Akil. There was little left that she hoped for. If anything, it was only a hope that death be painless, though reason and the pinch of nails digging into her chin told her this was not a realistic hope.

I thought I better publish this chapter too cause Wattpad had a whinge at me that my last chapter was only a 15 second read (but hella important to understand the journey, just saying). Tune in tomorrow night for more. I freaking love this part of the story, thought I’m worried this action sequence is still a little rough....?

A withered hand had reached up over the top, and now gripped down on the ledge and on one of the burning coals. There was an ear splitting shriek as flesh burned, and a wild scrambling as the creature fought to take another hold.....

Surprise! And there’s another one coming.....! Cause why not. Spoiling the readers among us this evening

          "Dad–"

It didn't matter that I had barely whispered the word. It filled the silent ward and echoed off the walls like a call to prayer.....

She pulled a curl out of the messy bun on her head and began to twist it through her fingers. It was a thing he had not seen her do before.

"Loretta?" he repeated, his voice full of question.

"Is she sleep walking?" Bennou asked quietly, appearing behind him.

Akil shrugged, "I wouldn't like to think so." He knew he shouldn't be surprised that Bennou was awake...
