I am in my thirties and in the past two years, really have started to pursue writing. It was mostly for school and work, but this past year is when I started writing fiction. I can't say I came to this decision alone, as that would be a lie. It was my girlfriend who told me to live beyond what I knew. I took this to mean do more than I already was, to branch out into the unknown. So, I decided to write a book.

I have a few hobbies and while I enjoy them, don't necessarily mesh with writing. I like to mess around with my camera taking pictures. I'm not a photographer in a professional sense in that I am still learning. My main subjects are wildlife and nature, both are ways for me to enjoy being outdoors. Also going out to take photographs helps me get exercise, so it's a winning combination.

What kind of writer would I be if I didn't mention reading? I love to read military history books primarily, as it fascinates me. However, if I find a book or genre of books that interests me, I'll end up going through a whole series at a time. The military history reading focuses more on World War II than any other war. I could be considered a military buff in what I know about The Battle of the Bulge and D-Day. Since my grandfather was part of both of these events, I felt it was something I should learn as much as I could about. Both of these events have been fascinating to read about, and a big reason I chose the style for my first book.

Another hobby I have is Christmas. Most would think this isn't a hobby, and for me it's everything a hobby would be. I live and breathe Christmas. The smells, songs, lights, the parties all mean fun. Then we get to the foods. I love seeing what delectable morsels people come up with during this festive time of year. Then, I just simply keep these in mind to use throughout the rest of the year. My office has a few things that are Christmas related, including a life-sized Santa and a four-foot tall Elf.
