@grimdeath Piers remained as calm as he could come off across, his gaze staring down at the barrel of the gun that seemed to have mocked him. His heart pounded in his chest the sound of blood now rushing while it had filled both of his ears. The man just shook his head slowly letting his hands drop out of view so he could put his own gun away. "I didn't mean to intentionally trail you, sir. I can't help it if we had been heading in the same direction. I'm telling you — I swear on my captain's life I didn't mean anything by it." He shook his head as his gaze now flickered onto the others gasmask. "I get you might not be so trusting of me and I can't fault you for that. But I swear if I had been any sort of problem, I would've taken you out by now."

Even as the man stepped back , his finger remained poised on the trigger , unwavering. Too many operations since the outbreak had burned caution into his instincts — trust was a luxury he buried long ago. Most who had crossed paths with him never lived to see another day , and even he couldn’t say why fate spared him when it didn’t spare them. “ I’ve noticed you tailing me , ” he said coldly. “ Start talking. Give me a reason , and maybe you walk away from this. ”
