"The next morning Nate’s alarm rang at half-past five. Olivia felt the bed shift as he rolled out off the right side, and watched him while he groggily walked across the room. He didn’t speak a word as he entered into the bathroom, and to be honest Olivia was happy he hadn’t. As far as she was concerned, they could avoid the awkward morning after conversation and pretend the whole thing had never happened.
She stared at the ceiling for a minute and replayed the events of the night before. The date had been wonderful. She’d had fun, and so had Nate, and in the end she had to admit that he’d done a damn good job at releasing the stress she’d let herself become entangled with. From her head to her toes, Nate had taken it upon himself to give her an outlet and she’d relished in it.
And, whether she wanted to admit it or not, two things were absolutely clear. First, she’d slept with Nate Harper. Second, she’d thoroughly enjoyed it.
The sound of the shower turning on yanked her focus back to the time and place, and she pushed back the covers. If she was fast enough, she could be dressed and out the door before he was through. As impersonal as it was, she honestly believed it’d be for the benefit of them both.
Olivia moved across the room, and took in the scenery as she scoured the floor for the outfit Nate had recklessly tossed off the night before. The room was simple, and obviously belonged to a bachelor, but there was something about the way it looked that was undeniably Nate’s.
She lifted the corner of the bedspread, and frowned when she realized that nothing was on the floor besides the black carpet neatly placed beneath the bed. She knew for a fact that she’d been fully dressed until they’d crossed the threshold to the bedroom, and near panic she did another search.
Dammit.
Her outfit wasn’t there, and neither was the one Nate had worn.
