New chapter of Surrounded by Idiots is out! I decided to go ahead and change Inkheart to Inksmith, because I just couldn’t get it out of my head (I also saw the sequel to Inkheart on sale in Waterstones, so I thought it would probably be on people’s minds!) Anyway, Inksmith is still just as dastardly, as this chapter will attest!

Oooh, also, what would people think if I changed Inkheart's name? A few people have told me that Inkheart is quite a famous fantasy book by Cornelia Funke (which I really ought to have known!)
Replacement would probably be Inksmith, as his name's John Smith, but I don't really like it as much. Other suggestions welcome, must have something to do with ink! ;)

@obliviablack You can't copyright character names (both me and Dickens have some similar character names, lol) and your story has a very different premise to "Inkheart". Also, I don't think Inkheart is even a character in the book - it's the name of a story, isn't it???? If you feel weird about it, perhaps you could add an author note about it??? The old "any similarity is coincidental" thingy????
@ella_rowan Ha, yes, I can’t ignore narrative rightness after everything I’ve written about it! I’ll think about it. Inksmith probably wouldn’t be so bad, but I don’t know what I’d do about Sonyasa’s heart tattoo…
@obliviablack I did think of the book - it was made into a movie as well - but it honestly didn't bother me at all and I never thought you would have lifted the name from there. Could this be a case of narrative rightness?????

I’ve just finished The Gods of Lindensea by @ella_rowan - a tribute to the amazing thought and research she puts into her Lindensea novels! This book is all about the religion, festivals, customs, and superstitions of the fantasy world she’s created, based on a mixture of British folklore, Roman history, and classical mythology!
