I’ve just finished The Gods of Lindensea by @ella_rowan - a tribute to the amazing thought and research she puts into her Lindensea novels! 
          This book is all about the religion, festivals, customs, and superstitions of the fantasy world she’s created, based on a mixture of British folklore, Roman history, and classical mythology! I learned so much (plus, the narrator, Sister Albina, has lots of jokes and wry asides!)

          I'm up to 11,000 words now - over halfway through the minimum wordcount for ONC. But am I halfway through the story? Probably not. Still, I'm having fun, which is the most important thing! Guys, I'm doing ONC this year! I've never tried it before, but I thought, well, I'm between stories, and the prompts look so fun...
          So let me introduce 'Surrounded by Idiots', a comic fantasy novella about supervillains, superheroes, magic, exasperation, female friendship, and LGBTQ+ love!

          P.S. for anyone who missed the announcement on Sunday, Jack and Ellini's story is now COMPLETE! Feeling very tearful and proud to have come to the end of this epic journey (which started in 2013! Although I took some time off to have a baby, write other things, and despair of writing in general...)

Finis! Fertig! Finito! The Powder Trail is COMPLETE!! 
          5 books, 650,000 words (rough estimate, it’s probably more), 11 years (off and on), and more characters than I could possibly drink a toast to (won’t stop me trying!) All ending here, on this Sunday evening before a work day where I will not be able to sleep because I’m too excited, and I probably should have proofread it more before posting, but I AM TOO EXCITED!
          I love you if you have ever so much as clicked on a page, but I especially love you if you have read, voted or commented. I couldn’t have finished these books without readers (I know because I tried!) 
          Of course, we all know how The Powder Trail feels about endings - they’re not the be-all and end-all (well, ok, they are the end-all, but they’re not necessarily more important than what has gone before). So here’s to the thick of it! Here’s to chapter 19 of book three! Here’s to the Lucy in 2014 who sobbed all over her notebook when she wrote Ellini leaving Jack in Lucknow! Here’s to the process - I’m proud of it all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Guys, The Great Ellini was one of the Top Picks in this year’s Ambys!! 
          This means such a lot to me. I had a disastrous time with awards last year (and just with life in general!) and this has happened at a time when I really needed something to help boost my confidence. I’ve been feeling so low and out of practice when it comes to writing, and so hesitant to write that final chapter which will mark the end of The Powder Trail. Hopefully this will unstick me and give me the confidence to move forwards! I want to try writing new things this year, maybe even enter the ONC. My motto for 2025 is: Try your Best Without Making Yourself Miserable (not very ambitious, maybe, but if you knew how miserable I can make myself when it comes to writing, you’d understand!)

So... the penultimate chapter turned into three penultimate chapters, but who can blame me, when there are so many loose ends to tie up and so many beloved characters to say goodbye to? These three are the goodbye from Ellini's POV, and the last chapter (or chapters, depending on how long they get!) will be the goodbye from Jack's POV. They're both equally my heroes, so I couldn't imagine a satisfying ending that didn't check in with them both! 
          Hope you're all having a great Christmas/holiday period! Possibly, this announcement will be unseen because so many people are away, but I don't mind - I'm just so happy/tearful/hysterical to be reaching the ending at last! Thank you so much to anyone who's come with me on this journey!

Squeeeeee (not sure how you transcribe an excited squeal, lol!) Can't believe I'm posting the climactic chapters of THE WHOLE SERIES! Lots of drama and surprises in store. But don't despair (as Ellini said to Jack, via a pair of silver dragons), there are still two more chapters to come, and they'll have their fair share of surprises in them!
