Honoured to report that The Great Ellini won the Winner’s Coven category in the EC Fiction Awards!! That’s a category composed entirely of winners of previous awards, so there was some very stiff competition! Thanks so much, @esthetiquecommunity ❤️❤️❤️

Hello lovelies! I’ve come to an exciting (and slightly scary) stage in the writing of The Powder Trail.
As my few but much-appreciated readers know, the story was mostly complete before I started posting it on Wattpad. I wrote everything but the last few chapters between 2013 and 2019, stopped for a few years, and then started posting it on Wattpad in 2021 as an attempt to rekindle my interest in the story.
Now, after three years and roughly 600,000 words, I have reached the point where I stopped writing in 2019, and will be writing the ending from scratch! It’s going to be challenging, since I’m pretty out of practice, having only been editing and writing the odd gap-filler scene for the past three years. But I’ve already written three totally new chapters, ready to post!
I’m telling myself that an out-of-practice ending is better than the story having no ending at all. And nothing is ideal in the world of writing (particularly the world of my writing, where I have to fight self-doubt and despair from my unhelpful brain every damn day!)
So that’s it. You’ll have to see if you can spot the difference between the old chapters and the new (and be patient with my typos and my rustiness!) I’m excited to have reached this stage in the story at last, and I have Wattpad (or, more accurately, the lovely people I’ve met on Wattpad) to thank for encouraging me to get this far!

@AnnamitaMuscaria Thank you, lovely Anna! ❤️ I’m enjoying writing the new bits so far…

@obliviablack NEVER STOP WRITING IT!!! And 600k O.O! It will be like swimming, you’ll get back on it and write her heart away. You can do it, I believe in you and can’t wait to read on the new part.

@ella_rowan Thanks Ella! ❤️❤️❤️ That’s exactly how I feel - scared but excited! It is pretty epic to be writing an ending after all this time!

Hey Lucy! It's been so long, I hope you're doing well. I was recalling my old friends from Wattpad and I knew I had to talk to you. Congratulations on getting married! It makes me so happy to see you flourishing with both your writing and your life in general.

On another note, would you be willing to help me with my academic research survey? I need diverse opinions on the Representation of the Indian Queer community on Wattpad and I'm sure your voice will add incredible value to my research. Or if you know anyone who might be interested in helping, that would be great as well.

It'll only take 5-7 minutes to complete the survey. Your responses are completely confidential and your consent is very important.

Hello, lovely people! I’m back from holidays and married! Not sure whether I’ll be changing my name, because my namesake, the nineteenth century American Lucy Stone, was an awesome feminist and abolitionist, famous for keeping her own name after marriage. So obviously I want to honour her stance, but at the same time, I quite fancy a change, and it would be nice to have the same last name as my son.
Anyway, given that it takes a lot of admin, I’m guessing I won’t get it done anytime soon, so Lucy Stone it is for the foreseeable!
Sorry I’m so behind with R4Rs and replying to comments - I’m going to be slowly chipping away at them as things return to normal (gosh, that makes me sound like a desirable reading partner!)
And I am oh-so-nearly at the end of the Jack and Ellini story!! Pretty soon I’ll have reached the end of my draft and will be writing the ending from scratch! Maybe then I’ll be able to change my name, because finishing something so significant for me as these stories might well make me into a brand new person! ❤️❤️

@obliviablack what do you mean « at your age »? As we aged, we only get better like red wine ;)

@ella_rowan Thank you, Ella! ❤️❤️ We only had a two-day honeymoon at the wedding venue, but it had a hot-tub! (I’d never been in one before, and I could totally get used to it!!)

Hello lovely people! Sorry I’ve been a bit slow with R4Rs and replying to comments this past week - I’ve been on holiday, then organising a children’s party, and now organising a wedding! Hope to be back to normal service soon ❤️❤️❤️

@ella_rowan Lol, sorry to that person! At least I waited 22 years and had a kid first - nobody could say I was rushing into it!

@obliviablack Take your time! Those sound like much more important things to do. Also, this made me laugh, but the notification I got just before yours was saying someone "Please stop getting married everyone! I feel so single." Then yours was, "Lol, super busy on my wedding rn, brb"!!!!! Gave me a much needed chuckle.

Hello, lovely people! I have another novella recommendation from the ever inventive @AnnamitaMuscaria (no, I am not stalking her, I just decided to read both her ONC entries after finishing Hell is an Empty Heart!)
This one is an insanely-inventive fusion of sci-fi and mythology, based on the Gnostics’ take on the Adam and Eve and Lilith myth! You will see breathtaking action scenes, demons posing as Instagram influencers, adorable LGBTQ+ romance, and, of course, Anna’s trademark badass heroines! On top of that, the most stunning cover art you are ever likely to see. Check it out! ❤️❤️❤️
