Charlie O'Callaghan does not like to be mistaken as a guy. (because she isn't one) "Charlie" is actually a nickname for Charlotte, she thanks you very much.
Charlie lives in a small town in Michigan, although she keeps a savings account to visit Ireland one day, for once she is freed from high school. She has a habit of writing sad, often times nonsensical, stories, in the hopes that the reader will find the underlying theme in each of them. (A hint from her to the reader: the common theme is mentioned in this very paragraph.) If the stories seem to depressing, Charlie asks you to continue reading - there may be some semblance of a happy ending (sometimes).
