Okay Wattpad...so over the last 10 years you've:
-Taken away the Soundcloud feature in stories
- Got rid of the Newsfeed (so we'd know what our followers were currently reading and it helped writers get more readers and engagement on stories)
-Private stories
-Writers Fourms
-And now Private Messaging.
Also, back when Wattpad was poppin, (2015-2017) the stories were strictly on how well the story line is and how well the author could write and think outside of the box.
Now it's about aesthetic and making a whole character's list before the story starts, which isn't an issue whatsoever, but I feel like bc of that, many readers refuse to read stories bc they can't just have another face claim for a character.
I think that's mainly bc Wattpad has become a money grab company. The minute they said "we're selling stories now and making them into movies even tho they're the most basic stories" a lot of GOOD writers don't get recognition and feel like they gotta compete. Therefore it creates ppl losing interest and passion for writing/reading.
It's honestly sad tbh
