It's been 15 years since Michael passed which means 15 years of me mourning my husband...I hate it here! *Kevin Hart voice* MICHAAAEEELLL ❤❤
I think another thing I realized the downfall of good stories on here is the lack of filler chapters. Looking back, authors would say "this is just a filler chapter" as if it was wrong. Filler chapters are important because 1) They are very realistic. Although ppl go through stuff, they're not going through the drama 25/8. 2) It builds up the anticipation for the next chapter and filler chapters are what hold valuable information and often have foreshadows that readers HAVE to pay attention to. 3) It creates a balance. Reading drama the entire time can get tiring (AND YES THAT INCLUDES SEX SCENES) the couple doesn't need to argue every time even though we know they're going through it. There could be moments where the characters are just at home and giving each other the silent treatment or g2 work and come back home to talk. I only mention this bc the filler chapters make authors feel like they gotta rush or have "slow starts" no, the filler chapters are important! Don't rush. Take your time and let the story write itself. It's normal. It's the equivalent of how Netflix does their tv shows/movies, everything's rushed. Some are good but then the affect of anticipation dies bc everything is jammed into one episode and there's no room to think what'll happen next. Don't rush your writing!
@wall_of_meerahz Great advice! I will definitely keep this in mind. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much!! I'm having a lot of fun writing it. I'm already working on book 2 for my Jan/Dario series. I'm like 44 chapters deep in it with a lot of ideas.
@all4damita being that you're a new writer, I'd also reccomend making sure to not do too many filler chapters...like for example, two chapters were action and drama filled but the third is a filler that brings more info to the characters or the plot then the next chapters are shock factors then you have another filler...just be sure to balance. Btw I love your story I'm still reading lol
@XZENNE and I agree with you! It does depend on the author and the story bc some fillers don't make sense with the plot at times, so it's important to make sure it does. And like you said, balance is key. You don't necessarily NEED fillers but it's moreso for ppl who don't want to get to certain points just yet in a story but also need to have certain pieces of info. And another thing you said that I like is how you said you do more cliffhangers and interludes. Those are great! Especially knowing what part to stary or stop are important. It builds the story better and makes it flow better..all that is what makes a good story..bc a plot can be great but you have to make sure everything balances well
Okay Wattpad...so over the last 10 years you've: -Taken away the Soundcloud feature in stories - Got rid of the Newsfeed (so we'd know what our followers were currently reading and it helped writers get more readers and engagement on stories) -Private stories -Writers Fourms -And now Private Messaging. Also, back when Wattpad was poppin, (2015-2017) the stories were strictly on how well the story line is and how well the author could write and think outside of the box. Now it's about aesthetic and making a whole character's list before the story starts, which isn't an issue whatsoever, but I feel like bc of that, many readers refuse to read stories bc they can't just have another face claim for a character. I think that's mainly bc Wattpad has become a money grab company. The minute they said "we're selling stories now and making them into movies even tho they're the most basic stories" a lot of GOOD writers don't get recognition and feel like they gotta compete. Therefore it creates ppl losing interest and passion for writing/reading. It's honestly sad tbh
@wall_of_meerahz it's like they're trying everything to keep ppl away from this app
@wall_of_meerahz: Exactly! I remember those days. Constantly finding new books to read.
Thanks for the follow ❤️
I really wish I was passionate about writing like I used to. Ik I still do but I am nowhere near consistent like I used to be. I wanna get back in the groove of it.
I understand how you feel. When I find myself being inconsistent, it helps me to remind myself why I like writing.
I got 1 non fan fic story in my drafts. 2 Michael story in my drafts. Another Janet story in my draft. And guess what? I'm too scared to publish any of them smh
Quincy needs to give us that OG version of Dirty Diana. He said Mike went IN so bad, he was scared Diana would sue bc of all the tea Mike spilled
@mitasmusicbox right!! Ik ppl don't believe it bc Quincy be talking shit bout Mike but even Bruce Swedien backed up Quincy's claim and said they both had to tell Michael not to release it
One thing about me? Oh imma speak on Michael Jackson like he was my loving and devoted husband
So random but, Michael really could've played the Phantom in thr "Phantom of the Opera" movie. It would've been PERFECT for him. Phantom/Michael: Misunderstood musical genius Phantom/Michael: Ridiculed by the public Phantom/Michael: Suck at ppl skills but great with Music. Phantom/Michael: Will tell you if you suck at your job Phantom/Michael: Perfectionists Sure Michael ain't kill nobody or kidnap a woman lol BUT he would've been great for the role.
@mjsvibee YES!!! And (hear me out) Willy Wonka...he'd be playing opposite of himself but with Mike's sarcasm, he would've been perfect for the role
@wall_of_meerahz he also could've been good as Edward Scissorhands. i think he even said that he related to him at some point
