Ahoy! Well. This is awkward.
Remember me?
The author who disappeared for so long that even I started wondering where I went? Yeah. Hi.
Life happened.
Then life happened again.
And just when I thought life was finished happening, it showed up with friends.
The past year has been a whirlwind of work, moving, responsibilities, exhaustion, and me repeatedly saying, "I'll write tomorrow," only for tomorrow to arrive carrying a baseball bat.
Writing ended up on the back burner while I tried to keep all my real-life plates spinning. Some of those plates broke. We don't talk about those plates.
Anyway.
I'm finally finding my way back to writing, which brings me to the next bit of news.
I unpublished my previous book.
Not because I hated it. Not because I gave up on it. But because somewhere along the way, I lost the story I wanted to tell. I kept staring at the document, hoping inspiration would return like a dramatic ex-lover standing outside in the rain.
It did not.
Instead, it packed its bags and vanished into the wilderness.
After fighting it for months, I finally admitted that the story and I wanted different things.
So I let it go.
The good news?
A new story has been occupying every available corner of my brain. This one refuses to leave me alone. It follows me around. It taps on the glass at 2 a.m. It interrupts me while I'm trying to work.
Which means I'm writing again.
And if everything goes according to plan... which is already a suspicious statement.... I should be publishing it soon.
No promises on schedules. No promises on sanity. But there will be words. Finally.
Yours in caffeine, questionable sleep habits, and poor life choices,
Yazna ^^
