Trapped
Being stuck in her house was not what she had planned today. She was planning on going shopping before she got trapped in the snowstorm, but as she took a glance outside she knew she wasn't going anywhere.
She took off her grey beanie, scarf, and gloves before setting them on the counter. She walked through her hallways to one of the closets and grabbed some blankets, she knew the power wouldn't last forever so she wanted to prepare sooner rather than later.
She took the opportunity to charge her phone, charge some battery packs she had, make some food, and find all her books. She didn't want to be bored out of her mind after all. She didn't think the water would turn off, but just to be safe she filled quite a few gallons and put them aside.
If someone were to ask her why she has all this emergency stuff as if she was preparing for it, she'd simply say they have no idea what she's talking about.
After some preparing, she turned the heater on to warm up the house as much as possible before she couldn't anymore. While the house was heating, she walked around every room to make sure no windows were open. After doing that she went to her room and changed into her fluffiest pajamas. She wanted to be comfortable.
She looked around in the kitchen and found some hot chocolate laying around, so, doing the logical thing, made a lot of hot chocolate. She had a few thermoses laying around and they'd keep the beverage warm for a long period of time. She'd finished putting the choco in the thermos and sat down on her couch. She believed she was pretty prepared to be snowed in. Although she already was snowed in, she still felt prepared.
A while back she had printed out some sudoku sheets to do in her free time, and she was glad she did. Sudoku was one of her favourite puzzles to complete, and it was a good time passer. Snuggling further into her couch she started the first puzzle. Doing one thing for a long period of time combined with drinking warm choco can only lead to one thing, being sleepy. And sleepy she was.
She put her drink and finished puzzle on the coffee table and changed her position so she was laying down comfortably. The snowstorm couldn't possibly get any worse while she was sleeping right?
Wrong. When she woke up from her short nap the first thing she noticed was that there was no power. Lights were out and the heater was off, making the house less warm. She pushed the blankets off of her and stood up. The first thing she did was check and see if the water had shut off or not. She grabbed the faucet handle and turned the water on. Granted, the water took a few seconds to start coming up, but it was working. She had a feeling that the power had not been off for that long as the house was still relatively warm.
She wanted to see how high the snow had gotten since the last time she checked, so she opened the curtains and saw that the snow had just barely reached the top of the window. She knew if the door was opened that a lot of snow would fall into her house and it would be covering the door entirely.
Wanting as much light as possible, she pulled back all her curtains to let the small amount of light come into the house. She needed this light to read. If the natural light wasn't enough she had a small book lamp that could attach to the book. She grabbed one of her favourite books and sat in a chair nearest the window to start rereading it.
She spent a good few hours reading when she decided to do something else. I was getting darker and she would have to make some food soon. She was lucky she had a gas stove and not an electric one. Which meant she could use a match or lighter to turn it on in emergencies. The only issue was trying to remember where she put it.
She looked up and down her house to try and find a match. She knew she had one somewhere. She opened the drawer that had all her silverware in it and found a box of matches. She grabbed the box and pulled one of the matches out. She struck it against the box and it quickly lit the top.
She turned her stove on and put the match close enough to it so it would light. There were only so many options for her to make. She knew she'd have to use something that would spoil faster than the rest of her food. Pineapple chicken sounded good, and the pineapples are a perishable food, so it's a win-win.

She had long ago finished making and eating her food and was now getting ready to go to sleep. She hoped the blizzard would get better and she could actually leave her own home. She got into her bed and pulled the covers over her. She had a feeling it would be a cold night.
When she woke up the next morning she was surprised that it wasn't colder. It was actually pretty warm. Wait. Is my power back or something or did I leave a lit match out and caught everything on fire? She quickly got out of bed and rushed into her kitchen to check if anything was on fire. Upon seeing nothing on fire, she concluded that her power was probably back. Which meant the snow had dissipated outside.
She rushed to her door and slammed it open with such force it left a dent in her wall. What she saw outside was the best thing she'd seen all day. It was no longer snowing and there was only a couple of feet of snow on the ground. She could walk without being completely plunged in the snow. She took a good look at her neighbourhood and saw that a lot of the driveways had been cleared of the snow that had resided there.
She sighed when she realised that she'd have to do that as well. But it was a whole lot better than being trapped in her own house.

Hallo, wonderful people! It is currently 2:52 AM where I am and I am very tired.
I hope you enjoyed my mini story. It took me ages to write this. I think it's been two weeks? I dunno. But I am back and I have at least two more chapters in planning.
What'd you think the MCs name was? What did you name her? What did you imagine her to look like? Let me know in the comments.
Anyway I'm probably not gonna go to bed anytime soon as I have no sleep schedule.
See y'all later!
