Language Issues
Learning a new language is harder than you think. Well, at least for me. I'm dyslexic and have a horrible memory, not a good combo for language learning, but I decided to take French anyway. Oh boy do I have things I wish I didn't do.
I was at my friend Rachel's party when I glanced at one of the signs that were around. It had the word "touch" written on it and my French brain went crazy. I pronounced it as "toosh" in my head and I audibly groaned. Which caught the attention of Rachel.
She had thought something was wrong or I'd eaten one of my allergens, but I told her that it was just a mispronunciation. I, obviously, did not tell her which word I mispronounced. In turn, she continued to nag me for the rest of the time I was there. I eventually gave in and told her which word it was and she still teases me about it to this day.
I once said "I'm sorry" in Japanese. Yeah. You heard me right. Japanese. A language I'm not taking nor plan on taking for a very long time. Anyway, I had bumped into a person when I was walking down the street (their fault entirely) and I said "Gomen'nasai" to them instead of "Sorry." I felt incredibly embarrassed and I just rushed off without saying anything else. I tend to also say "hai" instead of "yes." It's turning into a problem. I watch too much anime....
During my second year of French I had completely forgotten how to spell prefer in English. Because I had written préfèrer so many times I just blanked. I had to ask one of my classmates how to spell it. When he told me I facepalmed so hard. It's not that hard to get rid of the extra 'er' and the accents to get back to the word "prefer." I think my brain was too far into French mode.
I really shouldn't take any more language classes. Having issues with one language is enough.
*^*
If you haven't guessed, pretty much all these stories have happened to me at some point. I'm in my third year of French and it still messes with my English. I listen to Japanese songs a lot, so I learn random words all the time. I really am contemplating learning another language. I don't know which one though or if I should at all.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed yet another chapter of this mini one shot book!
See y'all later!
