"Hey! You're alive!" Skylar jumped when it seemed that Mike appeared out of nowhere, fumbling with her keys before she caught them in a tight grip.
"Wh-where did you come from?" She nervously asked him, her hands shaking slightly as she looked around for her cousin.
"From beyond the grave~" He joked, Skylar shaking her head as she scoffed at it. Mike counted it as a win when her hands stopped shaking and she actually paid attention to him.
"He's gonna ask you to the dance." Tyler said from the City, the others humming in agreement.
"Now I wanted to ask you, you know- if, you know, it's like a month away-"
"I'm not going to the dance, Mike. I'm sorry." Skylar interrupted him, looking sincere about her apology. She had no intentions on going to that dance and the others weren't gonna make her.
"Oh! Oh..." Mike said when he realized that he had gotten turned down.
"But, if I do go, I'll make sure to at least have a dance with you." Mike brightened up and hugged her before leaving, Skylar groaning and slumping down. "Why did I say that? Now I have to go."
"Or you could just blow him off." Grim suggested, Skylar shaking her head as she walked over to Bella. Bella rubbed her shoulder in a comforting manner as they sat down, Skylar laying her head on her shoulder.
"It's okay to be nice sometimes, Sky. You just don't wanna see anyone sad."
"I know..."
"Look at the pretty flowers..." Skylar had somehow managed to get lost, not panicking as she was staring at some flowers in some sort of trance. A bit of Ivy's red hair started to peek through as she reached out to touch a flower petal, a dazed smile gracing her face.
"Skylar?" Alice asked behind her, Skylar yelping as Ivy snatched her from the surface and quickly turned around. "Woah, it's just me. Alice."
"Oh thank petals." Ivy breathed when she saw no danger, letting Skylar take over again.
"You difted away from the group."
"O-oh, s-sorry." Skylar bowed her head as she quickly walked back over to the group, finding Bella and latching onto her hand.
"So, how does the whole shifting thing work?" Bella asked when the students were free to roam around the greenhouse, looking at some plants that actually looked dead.
"If any of them sense an overwhelming amount of danger, they turn to Foresight to see what's going to happen. Then they put the people capable of handling the situation at the front, the others are there just in case something goes wrong." Skylar explained to her, reaching Ivy's freckled hand out and touching one of the plants. "But other times when we shift, it's a mutual agreement of some sort."
