A/N: Before you read, please be aware that there is a minor argument ahead. If that will cause you any level of distress, then please don't read this chapter.
Groaning in agony, you collapsed back onto the bed and dropped your bat to the hardwood floor. Toga, your lovely girlfriend, couldn't say the same about herself, as she was humming an irritatingly positive tune while casually sharpening her knives. But as usual, you didn't interact with her, especially after such a stressful mission. Your back felt like someone was stepping on it with shoes that had spikes on the soul, not to mention a migraine was plaguing your head.
You, thirsty for a glass of water, called out to Toga. "Can you please go grab me a glass of water?"
The blonde looked at your exhausted form, her golden eyes radiating affection. "Of course, darling! But you must compensate me for doing so!"
You sighed and turned over, now laying on your back while staring blankly at the ceiling, "And how would I do that?"
A wide grin plastered her lips as she responded. "You have to kiss me, silly!"
You gave a small smile and slowly sat up, connecting your lips with hers for about two seconds before pulling away. This seemed to satisfy her, as she jumped up from the end of the bed and ran to the kitchen the league shared. With another sigh, you flopped back onto the bed and stared at the ceiling, thoughts wandering.
You and Toga had been together for a year, yet there was something that held you back from fully committing. You loved her and wanted a life with her, but there was so much going on. With every mission, you both became more distant, only sharing sweet moments rarely.
It didn't help the recent passing of your grandmother had been making you more stressed than ever.
There was also, unfortunately, some jealousy issues in the relationship. Both of you were extremely faithful, but even then, Toga would glare bullets into Dabi if he talked to you for too long.
After a few minutes of waiting, the sound of glass shattering made you run out the door and into the kitchen. Shards of glass were scattered all over the ground, along with Dabi and Toga glaring daggers into each-other.
"What the actual hell is going on?!" you asked, grabbing Toga's wrist and pulling her behind you. Your eyes burned into Dabi's with nothing else but rage. "What did you do?!"
He soon followed with the same energy and leaned forward to intimidate you. "Nothing. It was the psycho blonde behind you. She started threatening me for no reason."
You clicked your tongue and backed up, soon leading Toga to your shared room.
"What the hell was that, Toga?!" you asked her, grabbing your bat and bag off the ground.
Her golden eyes widened in surprise. "I was protecting you!"
"I would love to know from what!"
A tense silence hung above the air for a few moments. You stared at the ground and clutched your fists while Toga stared at your inherent sadness. Neither of you spoke until after a two more moments, and you were the one to do so.
"Look, I can handle myself. I appreciate and all, but you need to chill sometimes. I'm tired of arguing with you over this. I'm not cheating, and never will. I love you and you only."
"But it doesn't feel like it sometimes!"
Your eyes widened. "What?"
Toga had tears brimming her eyes as she continued. "You're always so busy with protecting people despite being a registered villain! And you never want to hug me when you get back. Instead, you flop on the bed and ignore me! It honestly feels like you don't love me anymore!"
Once again, a tense silence hung over the air as you stared at her in surprise. However, this one lasted a few seconds. Reaching out with your hand, you attempted her grab her hand, but she pulled away and left the room, leaving you to grip the end of your bat in frustration.
It seemed like this happened every night. Repeatedly would you two get into an argument about something or just simply ignore each-other, only chatting about plans with the league or if either of you were upset.
Things needed to change, and both of you knew that better than anyone.
You played with the bat in your hands and stared at a drawing you had made of the league, thoughts wandering once more. Everything seemed to run through your head before your grandmother came to your mind. It had been two months ever since her death.
Before your grandmother's neighbor found her, you and Toga visited her, giving her some pieces of jewellry. You three had dinner, chatted, watched movies, you know, things you missed out on in childhood.
So, fast forward to two weeks later when you get a call from All Might, informing your grandmother had passed away from old age. It made sense, as your quirks can get less effective in your older years, so you wrote it off as nothing else.
As anyone could tell, life hadn't been going well in the past few months, hell, even in the past year.
The sound of the door opening made you look to said door, only to see the famous 'Walking Smoke Cloud', or so you called him.
"Y/n, is everything alright? I noticed Toga ranting to Twice and Shigaraki about an argument, which makes sense, as we all heard it." he said, in his normal attire of his suit with the metal brace.
You clicked your tongue."Shut up."
Kurogiri sighed and beside you. "Why don't you and Toga go out on a date sort of thing?"
"It would get both of our asses in trouble. I'm only associated with the system because of an exception from All Might because of shit I don't know about. Cops fucking hate me, and honestly, they can fuck themselves for all I care. They chose the job, and if they want things to change, they need to cooperate with people that have common sense."
He chuckled. "Finally, you're not a wuss anymore."
You glared at him before standing up from your bed once more. "I don't need your shit right now."
Grabbing your usual belongings of your bat, sketchbook, and the choker your grandmother gave you, soon leaving the base briskly, averting your eyes from anyone's as you passed. Sure, it was dramatic, but the argument was enough to make you feel anxious about the future of your stable relationship.
Well, as stable as a relationship could be when you're both villains, especially when one is a vigilante and the other is a serial killer.
It didn't take long for your chest to feel heavy from the sheer amount of anguish that plagued your head. Your heart beat against your rib-cage like a drum, and your eyes were blanketed by the tears that threatened to fall down your cheeks.
It hurt to know that your grief was a primary cause of why your relationship with your beloved girlfriend had been on the rocks. You missed your grandmother dearly. You missed how she would prepare your favorite desserts for whenever you came to visit. You missed how supportive she was of your life, while also warning you of the dangers. You missed her teasing nature, and how she wanted to see you and Toga live a happy life. And you missed how fondly she spoke of your parents.
God, you missed her. And you missed Toga, the one who might become a memory.
It didn't take long for your tears to slowly start streaming down your cheeks, and for your anguish to bleed into the surrounding atmosphere.
