Third Person POV

The day ended like any other normal day. Alastor spent his time with the two -- cooking with Emma and chatting away with Alvin, that is. Sometimes he would sneak quick pecks on her cheeks when Alvin was focusing on his drawings.

Without a doubt, it was embarrassing for her but he didn't mind it. He never seems to mind it. He loved the embarrassed look she gives.

As he grabbed his coat and put on his shoes in the doorway, Emma stood behind him. Clutching on the yellow cardigan that laid on top of her shoulders, she leaned on the wall and let a soft sigh escape her lips.

Alastor turns around quickly and stares. "Darling, are you alright?"

The lady looked up at him.

He was indeed a tall man. Tall, lean and handsome. The bachelor of Louisiana was her one and only lover, something she'd never thought she'd give any thought about especially at this age.

For a moment, she wondered why such a man wanted to court a lady like her. And so she asked; "Why did you court me?"

Like a textbook answer, he smiled and replied to her.

"Because you really are a darl, darling," He said.

She had asked him this question a couple of times before, and each time she asked, she received the same answer. She wasn't satisfied. She stared at him long enough to try and search for a sign that he was hiding something. Alastor was always a suspicious man, you don't need to be a detective to realize that.

Like what the folks say, the eyes are the window to the soul. If he was always this charming, why was the brunette never attracted to him when they met in the restaurant? Or the second encounter, at least.

Because he looked insincere, that's what she assumed. She's never met eyes as cold as his. Alas, she's gotten to know the man himself and made the assumption (with his job and all) that he was uncomfortable with his 'fans' getting to close to him.

Only an assumption.

Alvin needed a father figure, Emma figured Alastor needed some type of interaction outside his job. She put two and two together, but it seems she had fallen for him instead.

"That isn't much of an answer, honey," She sighed but smiled softly. "But at least it was an answer."

She walked up to him and kissed his cheek, holding his face in place with her soft palms. Pulling away, she gazed at him with a satisfied smile on her face.

Her lover was blushing.

"It seems you are very bold today, Emma," He smiles, hiding his red cheeks.

"I've always been bold, Alastor. You just never seem to choose the right words to describe me," Emma answered. Giving him another kiss on his other cheek, she lets him go and waved.

He tips his hat to her bashfully and walks out the door. Her smile disappeared in an instant.

Why does it always feel like he's hiding something from me? Surely he isn't the type to have an affair, right?

She thought for a moment and shook her head. "He wouldn't do that."

Leaning on the wall, she stared at the front door. Wondering what always felt so off about the man. His eyes were bleak if he weren't looking at either Alvin or herself. He was stiff as a stick, stood tall and the entirety of his existence mocked the people around him.

For an odd reason, Emma felt like Alastor saw himself as greater than everyone else. And that never sat right with her. Though, she never really said anything. The man deserves some amount of ego with how gentle he normally is -- It's not every day that you meet a genuinely nice guy.

She stood back up straight, folding her arms and sighed. Today was exhausting -- too many things had happened. She may just be thinking too much.

"I'll leave the thought for another day,"

-------

The man walked with a hum, a skip in his steps and a smile clearly beaming on his face. The brunette was overjoyed -- his lover had finally woken up and her son was warming up to him even more so than usual. A good way to end the day, is it not?

Though, something better had invaded his mind. A way to murder that uncle of hers.

Every peck he left on his lovely lover's face was a reminder to himself that she was his, officially. The laughs he had with Alvin evoked him of the horrid childhood they both have had -- much like him. Of course, he can't do it just yet; it was basically a question of morale at this point, whether to kill their families or not.

His mind was already made, but his heart still wondered; Would they feel anything if their family members disappeared? Would they worry? Surely, the thought of Emma walking back and forth at 3 AM or Alvin waking up with his nightmares was not a sight to see. They were genuinely good people -- the sudden murder would give them a heart attack even if the victims had done many sins against them.

Funny, isn't it? A serial killer questioning his own morales for his family.

Alastor stopped in his tracks to place a hand on his cheek. The warmth of Emma's kiss still lingered and his heart swelled with such joy. His adoration had turned into infatuation -- he wanted to see her more and gaze at her pretty porcelain face -- pepper kisses all over her cheeks while reading bedtime stories to Alvin.

He never felt he could feel this way without the mention of sexual tension, he simply and utterly adored the lady and her son and he wanted to keep them safe and happy. Alvin cheering for another bowl of cereal and Emma smiling as she kissed the top of his head, secretly pouring more -- he wanted to see it every day.

Good people don't deserve bad things. He was definitely going to kill their family members, his heart was set.

He wasn't going to make any more mistakes.
