I feel like Map Of The Soul was supposed to be 3 albums which were Map of the Soul: Persona, Map of the Soul: Shadow and Map of the Soul: Ego.
Whenever we saw spoilers in MAMA 2019 awards you can see there's always 'Persona, Shadow, Ego' and I can't help but to think Shadow and Ego were supposed to be different albums. I also think they ended up uniting them because of the pandemic. I swear, BTS had a very good plan this year but the pandemic really did them dirty (I'm not saying they didn't kill me with BE tho lol).
I feel like Shadow was supposed to be the intro for map of the soul: shadow (like how Persona was for MOTS: Persona).
They were supposed to go on tour and who knows, in early 2021 or late 2020 (in the mid-tour) they would have released MOTS: Ego with Black Swan as the title track👁👄👁Idk.
This is just me having thoughts and making assumptions by myself, if you put it all together, it makes sense.
I feel like the '7' was planned later when the pandemic was becoming something bigger and they had to rethink about the seven beautiful years since their debut with seven members.
It's not like we get to see 2 intros in every BTS comeback👀
