Monster Rookies for me personally refers to when a rookie group finds early success and had an unexpected huge growth from the beginning of their careers.
Some people consider groups from the Big 3 'monster rookies' but I don't, because they have an advantage since their company's so popular or even if they don't get success from the beginning, their name will still be running through kpop fans, they won't be a complete nobody in their rookie days like Treasure, that's why I don't call them monster rookies.
I want to add that I consider a group rookie if it's been 2 years or less since their debut. MCND are rookies, Ateez, TXT, Itzy or Everglow aren't. Rookies nowadays are Cravity, Enhypen, StayC, Epex, etc.
A good example for my definition of monster rookies would be Ateez. I know them since Wonderland era and I think that comeback plus Say My Name at the beginning of 2019, gave them their first blow up so they had a nice year. Also, Wave gave them their first music show win!! Answer also blew up last year, I heard it everywhere even though it was annoying but I like it now lol.
I don't consider Stray Kids monster rookies, either Blackpink, EXO, Red Velvet, etc🙅♀️
But monster rookies or not, it shouldn't prevent you from stanning a group ☺️ They're all amazing and popular or not like I've said before, no one is better than anyone :)
What does monster rookies mean for you guys? I'm curious!
