Chapter 3

School had always been easy for me, never to terribly hard. So I found my thought drifting to Luke, and how he held me last night, and what I thought were his lips brushing against mine as he said I could call him Luke. I must have been deeply buried in these thoughts because I was awoken from them by Mrs. Patterson standing directly in front of me, screaming my name, and hitting my desk with a ruler.

"Miss. Shaw!" Mrs. Patterson yelled one last time.

"Yes." I said startled, there was soft laughter throughout the class room.

"There is someone here for you." She said, glaring at me. "He is waiting for you out in the hall way, I believe he is a friend of yours. Take your stuff." She told me, and walked back up to the front of the class to continue with her Algebra II lesson. I nodded and pack up my stuff, then was out the door.

I was finishing putting a paper in my bag when I heard Casey say, "I'm sorry Joce, but JD got sick and I don't want to have to deal with any of the other three."

I laughed, "No need to apologize, you saved me from... Mrs... Patterson..." l said, looking behind him for the first time. When I saw who was with him I swear to God, my heart briefly stopped, then picked up double time. Standing behind Casey was the one person I thought I would never see in real life, Luke. My beautiful dream man, here in real life, looking more beautiful than ever. His brown eyes lighting up when he took me in, and standing up straighter. Luke had always been muscular, and tall but he looked even more so now, standing behind Casey. Casey was easily a foot taller than me, which could mean Luke was a foot and a half taller than my 5'4. I continued to stare, mouth open in shock. Was I dreaming? Was I going to be tortured? Was it going to be worse than last night? I began to look around me, in hope to find somewhere to go hide, if the situation needed it.

I must have looked like a complete idiot, because eventually Casey was doubled over laughing at me, "Wow, I never knew you were the type to swoon. Maybe I should have taken someone else, at least Abigail wouldn't stand there looking like an idiot."

I looked at him and glared, he immediately held up his arms in an I surrender position. I walked closer to him, "You could have warned me." I said playfully hitting him in the shoulder.

He laughed some more and I took a deep breath to calm myself, trying to get my heart rate down, even though it probably wouldn't while he was standing not two feet away. I glanced at Luke again, he was smiling and staring at me in awe. "You knew I had them with me. Man, Jocelyn Shaw, the Jocelyn Shaw, swooning. Never thought I would see this day. I get to hold that over you for the rest of your life." He said still laughing at me, I gave him another look. "Ok, ok. Luke and Cayne this is Jocelyn, Jocelyn this is Luke and Cayne"

Cayne. That name from last night too, when Luke yelled at Cayne to bring the keys. He nodded at me in a silent hello, I nodded back. Cayne was twice the size of Luke, but looked as if he was used to following orders, not giving them.

I glanced at Luke again, unable to not look at him for more than a couple of seconds, to find him already looking at me. I faced Casey head on, in hope to try and show him I wasn't "swooning" over Luke. "Yea but Mrs. Patterson didn't tell me it was you. Anyway why do you need me? I thought you had JD" I asked.

"I did, but he got sick and had to go home. I needed someone else, and I don't want to have to deal with Abby or Sky or Michelle. I didn't know you would act the way you just did." Casey said with a smirk.

I felt my cheeks warm,"If you don't shut your mouth about that I'm going to shut it for you." I said glaring at him and I saw Luke and Cayne laugh silently.
